About Toolzees

Toolzees — Everyday Tools by Dave the virologist is a growing collection of fast, free online tools for the small tasks people do every day: counting words, formatting JSON, resizing images, working with PDFs, generating passwords, calculating percentages, converting units, checking text, and much more.

Why Toolzees exists

I built Toolzees because the web is full of single-purpose tool sites that are slow, cluttered, or interrupted by unnecessary pop-ups. I wanted one clean, dependable place where people can open a tool, finish a task, and move on.

My background is in virology and scientific research, where clear methods, accurate results, and practical problem-solving matter. I bring the same approach to Toolzees: each tool should be understandable, useful, and straightforward.

Completely free

Every Toolzees tool is free to use. There is no paid membership, no Pro plan, no subscription, and no requirement to create an account. Some pages may display limited advertising to help cover hosting, security, and development costs, but access to the tools is not placed behind a paywall.

Privacy by design

Most Toolzees tools run directly in your browser. That means the text, images, PDFs, or other information you enter stays on your device and is not uploaded to Toolzees. Examples include text tools, calculators, generators, image tools, and most PDF utilities.

A small number of tools require server processing. The main example is Office to PDF, which securely uploads the selected document to a private server directory, converts it through a restricted LibreOffice process, returns the PDF, and removes the working files immediately after the request. Abandoned temporary jobs are automatically cleaned up.

  • Generators for passwords, UUIDs, QR codes, names, strings, calendars, and other useful outputs.

The optional Toolzees Assistant can help visitors find the right tool and answer general questions about the website. It is not required to use any tool.

Accuracy and responsible use

I test Toolzees tools and improve them when issues are found, but no automated tool is perfect. Results should be checked before they are used for important decisions. Toolzees does not replace professional medical, legal, financial, engineering, or other specialist advice.

Independent and always improving

Toolzees is independently built and maintained. New tools are added based on common everyday needs, user feedback, and gaps in the tools already available online. Existing tools may also be updated as browsers, file formats, and web standards change.
